Special General Meeting held to approve new Rules for the association

On the 5th December BSCNZ held a special general meeting at the Tamaki Yacht Club in Orakei, Auckland to vote on approving the new rules for the Association

BSCNZ spent considerable time reviewing the rules of the Association, to ensure they are in line with current practises.   The major proposed changes to the rules were as follows; 

  • The introduction of the Chief Executive Officer position within the BSCNZ has created a shift in responsibilities to accommodate this role
  • A minimum 6 month Probationary period is now compulsory for all new members (except associate members)
  • A stand down period will apply for all members that resign from the BSCNZ should they wish to re-join the association at a later date
  • There is now clearly defined time frames regarding the length of time an officer can hold the positions of National President, National Vice President
  • The introduction of the BSCNZ member audits
  • All BSCNZ’s annual financial accounts will undergo an annual review with an external auditor, with a full audit being conducted once every 3 years
  • Upon BSCNZ being wound up all costs, debts and liabilities shall be paid and the balance of BSCNZ’s assets, shall be disposed as determined by a majority poll of members (excluding associates) who have been a financial part of the association for at least 5 consecutive years from the date at which the association is dissolved. Each member company shall be entitled to one vote.

The new rules were approved by way of majority vote and will come into effect the 1st January 2019.  A copy of the new rules is available in the library under the members section.
